Our methodology enables structured <\/strong>participation<\/strong> to streamline coordination costs\u2014ensuring that the smallest<\/strong> possible group effectively represents the broadest<\/strong> range of interests, to foster the emergence of landscape agreements.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In collaborative workshops <\/strong>with representatives of resource users\u2014such as cattle ranchers, miners, cocoa farmers, and others\u2014we first identify practices that threaten societal well-being or hinder the regeneration of vital natural resources, including water, land, air, and biodiversity. Then, we foster agreements to drive change in these practices<\/strong> and establish instruments that encourage their adoption<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The SLAT evaluates instruments, changes in resource use, and their impacts on <\/strong>societal demands<\/strong> and resource regeneration<\/strong> through a landscape-specific matrix of indicators. The tool employs a standardization technique<\/strong>, ensuring global comparability while respecting territorial uniquenes<\/p>\n

Our methodology identifies the full set of <\/strong>societal demands<\/strong> (FSSD) within a defined landscape using a critical mass criterion<\/strong>. We assess the actual provision and measure it against the FSSD to derive the standardized Societal Demands value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We establish a baseline in undisturbed areas<\/strong> (e.g., seminatural habitats) and compare it with observations in disturbed areas<\/strong> (e.g., crops) to derive the standardized Resource Regeneration value<\/strong><\/p>\n
